October 2025 Welcome to Hemlock Health and Wellness! Meet Beth!

Hi, I’m Beth! Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about Hemlock Health and Wellness
(HHW) and me! Continue with this post to see if there is any way I can meet your needs! Here are some things I can share about myself, and the growth of HHW:
● I am passionate, educated, and dedicated to the success of HHW and those it serves.
● I am a creative occupational therapist and business woman who is focused on individuals being informed about their health to make safe decisions about their lives, and how they want to live them.
● I am an educator that believes in evidence-based practice and holistic, trauma-informed care approaches that meet the reality of one’s life.
● I am a human being that isn’t perfect yet who is empowered to overcome obstacles through self-reflection, grit, determination and maybe just a little bit of controlled ADHD…(I said what I said, and…. this is my blog, so I guess I can do what I want!).
● I am a practicing occupational therapist and health care professional that understands the health care system, reimbursement models, billing, coding and policy, and legislature.
● I am someone willing to take a risk on herself…to work a full time job in higher education, continue to practice as an OT on the weekends and start HHW to employ the many skills I possess in a way to positively shape the future of humanity and human service.
● I am grateful, because without it optimism is not sustainable.

Is HHW for you? Well, it depends, which by the way is the most frequently used phrase in occupational therapy (OT) education – students that read this, you know what I mean! What is OT? Glad you asked! To keep it short and sweet, the profession is interested in activities of daily living, or as we lovingly call
them occupations. Occupational therapists are the people you don’t know you need until you meet them. We look at how people live their lives, across the lifespan (birth to death), we take into consideration the individual’s medical, physical, cognitive, emotional, and social circumstances, and
creatively solve challenges those people are presented, or figure out how to keep someone right where they are, in that perfect spot of safety, independence, autonomy and freedom using something called the just right challenge. OT’s know a lot of things, about a lot of things. A monumental problem is, not
enough people know about OT. HHW is destined to be a part of changing that! HHW offers 2 different services. The first is in the form of consultation. If you are looking for an expert opinion on something that falls within the scope of experience I can offer, we can do that. Consultation is what the consumer needs it to be in terms of length and duration. The other service is more traditional occupational therapy evaluation and treatment. We do not accept insurance. Scope out how to access a free screen on the main page. What is the purpose of this blog? To share information, perspective, points of view, advocate, connect, network….the list really could go on and on. Connecting with you, the consumer, means sharing a little bit of me. One of my hopes is that I can reread this first blog in October of 2026, and identify forward thinking, growth, change, connection, innovation and inspiration. I hope I can reread this and be proud of myself for not giving up, even though from the infancy of HHW to now took a lot of time, sacrifice, planning, development and collaboration. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me through this process, anyone who has answered my questions, listened to my rants, entertained my ideas, kept me in my lane or taken me under your wing. Without you, this wouldn’t be this and I wouldn’t be me! If anyone has any suggestions about blog content, please email me at beth@hemlockhealthandwellness.com

For now, I’ll be updating this monthly, but you never know what a year can bring!
Fingers crossed this takes off,
Beth
